Any teacher or scientist in the area may join, and there are no costs involved. Other people not involved in partnership work, but interested in TSN, also belong.
All members receive TSN’s twice yearly newsletter, and an invitation to the Annual Meeting, together with occasional emails alerting them to significant date announcements or opportunities. TSN does not disclose members contact details to any other organisation or third party.
Teachers should be aware that while every effort is made to find a scientist partner, demand always outstrips supply, and in our efforts to make partnerships as logistically easy as possible there is no way of knowing when, if ever, you will be partnered.
In Summer 2008, TSN memberships stood at 240 teachers, 80 scientists, and 70 other people interested in our activity, with 65 active partnerships across the region.
You are welcome to take part in any of our other activities and projects regardless of whether or not you have a partnership. We run a free-to-loan Kit Club, and run occasional primary and high school subject-knowledge focused cpd, Primary Science Workshops and Master Classes respectively.
To join TSN you can download the forms here which should be returned to Dr. Phil Smith, TSN Coordinator by email or post to the address on the form.
There is a separate membership to the TSN Kit Club, which is a school membership, allowing all teachers in a school to access the free-to-loan resources. Further details and the Kit Club membership form, which requires a signature from the head teacher, can be found here.
