Ideas for activities obtained from the Carbon Trust publication: A whole school approach: involving the school community in reducing its carbon footprint. We have extracted (with permission) this 9 page pdf document for classroom ideas. The whole publication is available to download at this link.
We are most grateful to the Carbon Trust for allowing us to modifty their publication in this way allowing you easier access to some high quality resources.
Suggested for practical activities looking at some of the properties of CO2 and how these relate to some of the consequences of global climate change. Experiments contributed to the Carboschools programme by teachers and scientists under a creative commons license. View the library here
In the EcoBox, we provide a dvd prepared by the Environment Agency (EA) explaining SUDS in action. This is probably most suitable for A-level geography students.
The suggested practical activities accessed here, are probably more suitable for younger / less able pupils but will provide an introduction to the SUDS-concept.
We provide two simple practicals (1) to illustrate why SUDS applications exist, and (2) allow you and your pupils to investigate more about soil properties that affect the behaviour of water (specifically Soil Compaction).

The Eco Box was developed by a partnership project between Norwich City Council, Norfolk County Council, CUE East and Norwich 21. The project commissioned the Norfolk Teacher Scientist Network (TSN) to design, assemble the box and write the supporting material. The box is now an integrated part of the TSN Kit Club and can be loaned by all schools.
The following schools from the City of Norwich area were involved in the pilot project. City of Norwich High School (CNS), Costessey High School (now Ormiston Venture Academy), Earlham High School (now City Academy Norwich), Hewett School, Hellesdon High School and Taverham High School.
This involved loaning the box and engaging with a cpd programme supporting the resources within the box.
