John Innes Centre, 11th December 2003.

Approximately 150 pupils aged 14 yrs and above, a mixture of male and female, from 7 high schools across Norfolk attended the event.

Our 3 speakers and our chair for the day, Marie Noelle Barton have kindly agreed that we can publish their biographies on the TSN website - click below their name to read more (Isabelle Côté, Helen Mason and Catherine Merry). Their varied backgrounds, not just in terms of scientific background, makes for a contrasting story. Thanks also to local scientists Dr Tracy Palmer (JIC, project leader), Ruth MacCormack (JIC, research assistant) and UEA first year undergraduate Emma Shore for giving their time to the panel debate.

The WISE campaign run by Marie Noelle promotes careers for women in Science and Engineering, visit the WISE campaign website (http://www.wisecampaign.org.uk) for more information.

The exhibition of Famous Women Scientists provided by Madeline Shepherd was accompanied by a history of science 'time-line' from 1750 to the present - this is available as a TSN Kit.
