An easy way to gain access to high quality resources designed to facilitate practical investigative science. The topics covered by our resources are what teachers have asked for, fitting with our rigid ethos of being a teacher-led organisation, providing what teachers want.
Recognised in 2005 by then DfES, our best practice in this area was expanded to 3 regional Science Learning Centres in the National Kit Club project.
Our kits are always evolving and improving in direct response to teacher feedback - from the people who use them and who we aim to support. Feedback forms are included in every kit and we encourage you to complete one for every kit you borrow.
InSeptember 2013, TSN introduced a charged membership for schools borrowing the kits. We do ask that schools take care of them and return them complete and in good condition.
Its easy to borrow kits - join the TSN estimating how many kits you think you will borrow during the year, complete the membership form asking your head to sign-it off.
The kits may be booked out in advance (up to 1 school year ahead), so get your requests in early if you can.
The usual loan period is for a half-term or less. The kits are booked in 1 week blocks, up to a maximum of 8 weeks.
It is your responsibility to collect and return kits to TSN at the John Innes Centre, just call or email first to arrange a time to visit. Directions here
